Hi, yes I%26#039;m male therefore ignorant of the pill really. However a friend has me kind of worried. She%26#039;s just started seeing a man and has gone on the pill as sleeping together. She has never been on any contraception before, and she says the pill starts working from the moment you start to take it, now I am not sure, so please ladies/gents/Drs out there, who%26#039;s right before it%26#039;s too late! I%26#039;m afraid I don%26#039;t know what brand of pill she%26#039;s on either before anyone asks! She%26#039;s 26, and has just had an operation for endiometriosis (whether that effects anything I don%26#039;t know but thought I%26#039;d throw it in anyway).

I should just say she%26#039;s highly religious and almost to point of cult (well Baptist anyway - no offence meant). She may be 26 but naive? They worse than Catholics %26amp; birth control!!! That%26#039;s 2 religions that I%26#039;m going to Hell with now anyway ;) Thank you all for the answers
If you begin taking ant combined pill on the first day of your period it is effective from this point. The combined pill is then 99.82% effective, this includes the pill free days. I have to say Naive or not, you friend is 26 years old and thus a fully matured adult, what she wishes to do at this age is her business.
