So I started birth control on Sunday for the first time since before I got pregnant. I was on it for 6 years, lapsed for three months and got pregnant with my son. I do not want to get pregnant, I asked the doctor how long after starting the pill will it take to be completely effective. He said 2 weeks. The pamphlet says 1 week and I have always heard 1 month. I%26#039;m confused. Should I wait the 30 days? We have abstained for 10 months and are more than ready to resume our sex life but want to be as safe as possible.

My partner is paranoid and does not trust condoms to be effective enough

Breastfeeding prevented me from getting on the pill.
I have always heard that you should wait one month after starting the pill for it to become effective. Why doesn%26#039;t your partner trust condoms? If you really do not want to become pregnant but you want to resume your sex life as soon as possible, then I would wait a month, or use condoms, they are 99% effective if used correctly, right?
