i just asked a question an hour ago about my self harming. Someone said about %26#039;borderline personality disorder%26#039; and said to look it up. I did this and i felt like i could really relate to quite a lot of the symptoms. I%26#039;m really worried i might have it...it was like reading my life story for the past couple years.
I think i might have got to the stage lately where i want help now.
The thing is i can%26#039;t talk to anyone about the way i feel, things i think and do. I dont see myself as normal because of many things i feel and do.
I%26#039;m worried about going to get help. I%26#039;d not beable to get the words out to describe whats wrong.
Im 18 and living at home and i REALLY dont want my parents knowing about any of this. If it turned out there was something would they find out?
Also if i had that on my medical record would it mean i couldnt get as many jobs in the future? Would i be as employable? Would i be able to work with kids?
And most of all would i beable to keep it a secret?

First of all it is very important that you talk to someone. It is ok to read things about what might be the problem but you really need an expert to actually tell you. It may be that you don%26#039;t have a personality disorder, but that you have had a really hard upbringing or a tough time in your younger years. I am not going to make any presumptions here.
People who self harm are usually crying out for help. They are either punishing themselves for something they believe they are responsible for or for the pain someone else inflicted on them and they have no means of handling it.
If you are able to discuss the issue with your mother I suggest you do so. If not, then perhaps a grand parent or a trusted teacher. You could go to your doctor and tell him/her about the issue and ask if they can refer you to a therapist or counsellor. Answer Over!
