How do you know if you're thinking about suicide? Mental Health

How do you know if you%26#039;re thinking about suicide?
Seems like a strange question, right? But there is such a stigma attached to being suicidal that sometimes I don%26#039;t know if I think about it or not. I mean, when you%26#039;re depressed, everything you read asks if you%26#039;re suicidal, but once you start reading those things, of course, you%26#039;re thinking about the concept of suicide, even if it%26#039;s not about yourself. Sometimes I think in frustration that I should just hurt myself, but I never really think that I INTEND to hurt myself. Counselors always ask if you think about hurting yourself? But are you thinking about doing it if you%26#039;re just thinking about thinking about it? Does this make sense? I mean, my instant reaction to any question like that is, %26quot;No! Of course not!%26quot; But is this the truth, or is it not? Is it possible to think about the concept of suicide but not really be suicidal?
i completely get that!!!
wow.

obviously, if someone asks you about suicide you have to think about it.
and if you think about suicide just to think about it. like the concept of it, then you are thinking of it but not really thinking of doing it.
everyone thinks about suicide.
your counselor obviously has to think about it to ask the question.
but yeah.

i guess you know if you really consider going through with suicide if you start kind of planning it out in your head.
that would be actually thinking about it.
