Does it hurt when they remove pins after healing from a fracture? Do they use anesthetic? I have pins sticking out of my foot and im due to get them removed soon. I was wondering if it is painful or if a painkiller is used.

they numb you up pretty good and give you percocet or vicodin for a few days its not that bad in fact it hurts like hell for about 2 days then you wont need the meds after all.

Some doctors will put you out though (just their style) but same thing numb you up and give you happy pills to go home with. :-) remember stay ahead of the pain dont wait for it to start killing before you take that first dose other wise ur playing catch up. not fun.... good luck and take care. working in xray talking to about 200 people who have had it done.
