Could I have a back problem? (Can you develop a back problem (i.e. scoliosis) w/o being born w/ it?)? I am a high school teenager experiencing lower back pain. It may be b/c the weight of my backpack is literally 20 pounds and I carry it across a very long school all day. Scoliosis runs in my family, but I don%26#039;t think it has ever been diagnosed in me.
Could I have scoliosis? Or, is it possible to develop, not inherit, scolosis / other back problems?
Is there a way I could determine what the problem is before going to a doctor (like any definite symptoms)?

  • I%26#039;m not an expert at any of this or anything but i do kno that you can develope back problems without inheriting it. and i also know a way (not definite) to see if you do have scoliosis. Take your shirt off and reach to touch your toes without bending your knees. then have someone look at you spine. if it has a curve more than 10 degrees you have scoliosis and you should go to the doctors for further diagnosis.
