The sebaceous cyst in my ear ruptured, how do I treat it? It%26#039;s a small rupture, so it just oozes liquidy sebum every now and then, and I%26#039;ve been applying hydrogen peroxide whenever I get the chance. It doesn%26#039;t hurt much (well, the cyst itself hurts, but the surrounding area doesn%26#039;t hurt as much since it ruptured) so I don%26#039;t think any thing%26#039;s infected. I planned to continue to clean it and put something warm on it when I can.- is there anything else I can/should be doing?

Also, will it still heal as it would before the rupture?

Best Answer

I think you are doing everything you should be. Rupturing is part of the healing in that is allows infectious material to flow out. The pressure would build and the material would be driven deeper if it had not opened. Sometimes cysts need to be removed in order not to return. Sometimes they do go away so you will just have to see.

Thanks! I%26#039;ll continue treating it as I have.
