I am getting married in 3 weeks in Maui, Hawaii %26amp; today I learned that there are TONS of mosquitoes there. I cannot afford to get these bites on my wedding day. What if it bit me in the face? LOL!
Please tell me - what is the best %26amp; strongest repellent out there?

Any brand of repellent that contains at least 40% DEET is what you need. 40% DEET will give you several hours of protection. Nothing else works like DEET regardless of what the advertisements say. Higher concentrations last longer and repel better but can cause skin irritation. Test in a small area to be sure before hand. I use 40% in the Alaska bush country, known for billions of mosquitos, and it works great.Other Answers (6)

Scratch! Not just a little scratch - have a really good scratch. Forget what your mother told you. Nature gave us the urge to scratch for a good reason. Scratching stimulates the immune response and a strong initial immune response at the site of the mosquito sting may be enough to stop viruses transmitted by the mosquito from spreading * also, Vitamin B1 (thiamine hydrochloride) has a folklore reputation as an insect repellent. The idea is that if you take a daily vitamin B1 supplement your skin will excrete the excess vitamin and the smell of this will repel mosquitoes * Lastly, living in australia, we get all sorts of weird creatures %26amp; insects that bite, the best repellant i found was Aeroguard tropical strength repellant. May pay to call a few contacts in Hawaii and ask what they use???

I was told Listerine ( yes the mouthwash ) is a great repellent. I guess you would smell minty fresh too, LOL.
Also try putting dryer sheets in each of your pockets. I was also told this helps repel them as well. I certainly hope they don%26#039;t get you in the face. That bump looks horrible. I thought I got them bad!
I have tried just about everything on the market and have yet to find one that works great. This year I am trying the dryer sheets and Listerine! -
JESUS CHRIST! I had no idea they got like that. But it%26#039;s a black water squash marsh mosquito or something right? That sounds like a major mosquito. I just saw on TV a few days ago mosquitos kill 2 million people a year. You know I%26#039;m pretty sure vodka works as a repellent. You may want to look this up to make sure. Just look up the top 10 uses of vodka or something like that. It%26#039;s crazy. I%26#039;m pretty sure that it says if you get some lavender and let it sit in some vodka and then put it in a spray bottle and spray it on yourself it works as a bug repellent.

Put dishes of Lemon Joy in the backyard away from the house. The mosquitos are drawn to it by the scent, but it will kill them. Put a lot out in different places, so just the bugs will be interesed in them.
For Hawaii -- Skin So Soft from Avon is supposed to be a very good repellant.
I hope you get it worked out.
