It depends on what is bleeding, where it is bleeding from, how much blood, etc. Alot of factors. If someone has a bleeding ulcer, we can put a scope in and stop bleeding by cautery, injection of medicine, putting on clips and other means. If you were bleeding from an Aortic aneurysm, then it would take emergency surgery to fix that. Another factor is if there is a blood clotting problem, with the use of medications like Coumadin, Plavix, Aspirin etc.If you could be more specific, it would help me give you a better idea than that.

First there is a need to find out where the bleeding is happening - stomach? aorta? brain? If the bleeeding is in a hemophiliac, then transfusion with fresh plasma may be enough. If it%26#039;s due to a tear or leak in the aorta (artery) open surgery and possible graft repair is needed. In the brain, maybe putting a suture or clamp on a bleeding small artery will be enough.
