I can%26#039;t really tell you why you do, but I can tell you you%26#039;re not alone.
I do the same thing, actually I%26#039;ve been doing it alot today as well lol.

I once heard someone saying that when people eat their boogies/hair/skin around their nails/ and I guess inside of your mouth too is a disease. I don%26#039;t think you have anything to worry about unless it gets too bad. Why not try chewing gum? I%26#039;ve found that that helps some.

As for the lump, why not try putting some ice on it?

I hope this helps Me 100% 1 Vote

  • It%26#039;s a bad habit you have %26amp; you probably dont even realize when your doing it. I bite the insides of my cheeks sometimes %26amp; my bf bites his lips 24/7 I hate it! Your just going to have to wait till the lump heals %26amp; hope that you can control your habit. It%26#039;s almost like a bit of a nervous tick =o( 0% 0 Votes
  • I have the EXACT problem!!! i%26#039;ve been doing it for a few years now (and i%26#039;m only 15:( ...... my teeth are chipping from it, and finally, my dentist just had enough. he yelled at me for like five minutes while explaining why self-mutilation was not the key to managing stress and stuff.... well, he told me to ALWAYS chew on some gum... that way, my teeth doesn%26#039;t get grinded down anymore and my jaw doesn%26#039;t go out of alignment...

    so ya-chew gum. 0% 0 Votes
  • It is a combination of nerves and an oral fixation. Most people including myself do this especially if we no longer smoke cigarettes or pot.
Try finding something to suck on when you find yourself doing this and over time you might curb the habit, or develop a sweet tooth. 0% 0 Votes
  • I always heard it was because someone had gained weight. There is no medical reason. 0% 0 Votes
