3 yr old daughter-toys-tripped-bed-BUST... LIP. Help!!!!? My 3 yr old just tripped in her room over some toys, fell right on the side of her bed and busted her lip. Didn%26#039;t bleed a whole lot...as soon as I got to her I wet a rag and told her to suck on it and wiped what blood was there away gently. I then got some ice and told her to suck on it and had her lie in my lap and stuck the ice on there for probably 4-5 minutes. She didn%26#039;t want me to do it any longer than that and doesn%26#039;t want to lie back down for me to do it again. She%26#039;s not complaining with the lip yet....she%26#039;s back playing again, lol. I assume her teeth cut her lip...it has a slice in it about 1 cm MAYBE alittle more but isn%26#039;t cut deep...I did check her teeth and they seem to be fine. Is there anything else that I need or can do for her? What would be the best thing to give her for pain if it starts to hurt....tylenol, motrin?....doesn%26#039;t matter? Is there any cream or medicine that I can put on the wound IN the mouth to help it heal faster? Thanks in advance.......:o)

What you did is fine...you would know if anything else was wrong with her. If she had any pain at all she would let you know. If she does get any pain I would use Motrin but that is because I just like it better for kids than tylenol! Not good reason just felt it worked better for my kids. You did a great job...by not getting upset and freaking out you kept her calm and that is best when dealing with those fun bumps and bruises kids get. Keep up the good work!!! me..mom of a 22, 20 and 13 year old 100% 2 Votes

  • Nope there is nothing else you can do. Just make sure she brushes her teeth and practices good oral hygiene, and it will heal VERY fast. In fact the mouth and tongue are the fastest healing parts of the body. Kids are very resilient, they bounce back from life%26#039;s little bumps and bruises quite easily. So don%26#039;t sweat it everything will be okay! ;-) Paramedic, BS Emergency Medical Care 0% 0 Votes
