I think my 11month old got bit by a centipede.. what to do now? im not sure but he has two big swollen areas larger than a quarter on his arm and a few smaller ones on his legs. I seen a centipede in his room but it ran to fast and i didnt get to kill it. can these bites harm him what can i do to treat them. how do i find this centipede

You should immediately get proper medical advice by calling the Emergency Department of your nearest Children%26#039;s Hospital, or if you don%26#039;t have one near you, of your closest general hospital. If it was me, I would take your baby straight to the hospital for assessment, especially if you%26#039;re not sure what bit them (what if it was a spider?). It might take a few hours in hospital, but will you sleep from worrying anyway? and if your baby gets sicker at least you%26#039;re already at the hospital. If your child is having any trouble breathing, slurring in their speech (I know only 11 months and probably not using real words but you will recognise if they can%26#039;t talk properly), gets %26quot;floppy%26quot; arms, legs or neck - call an ambulance immediately, it may be an immunological allergic reaction which stops them breathing. Good luck.
Centipede bites are painful but seldom dangerous. The one exception is the poisonous Giant Desert Centipede which is 6 inched long and inflicts a very painful bite that must be treated like a snake bite.
But if it wasn%26#039;t one of these then try some benadryl cream right on the bug bite this should help with swelling and itching.
If you still are worried call the pediatrician and ask for their advice.
As far as catching it you might get lucky and find it, most likely not, but if you do best bet is to take a hard soled shoe and give it a good squishing.
