Healing sunburns quickly? I was in the sun all day yesterday, and even though I kept re-applying sunscreen, I still got burnt! I have very sensitive skin and its works on the bridge of my nose and my shoulders.
Does anyone have any natural remedies or creams that will help the redness and soreness go away?
Thanks!

I%26#039;m an Australian and believe me, we know all about sunburn (strangely, we never put an %26#039;s%26#039; on the word). Our sovereign remedy is cold tea compresses. Make strong black tea and let it cool and dab it on the snburn. Very soothing as well as healing. Vitamin A cream after the cold tea treatment is also recommended. 100% 1 Vote

  • For some reason, some people use butter... Do NOT use butter as it makes it worse. Instead, follow the following steps:

(NOTE: The following may cause pain and/or irritation, but, it will be better in the long run, once the burn clears up. If needed, you could take an acetaminophen pill, or a nonsterodial anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), such as Advil™, to minimize or neutralize the pain).

    * Take a cool bath or shower. Adding 1/2 cup (about 120 milliliters) of cornstarch, oatmeal or baking soda to your bath water may provide some relief.
    * Apply an aloe vera lotion several times a day.
    * Leave blisters intact to speed healing and avoid infection. If they burst on their own, apply an antibacterial ointment on the open areas.
    * If needed, take an over-the-counter pain reliever such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Aleve) or acetaminophen (Tylenol, others). Don%26#039;t give children or teenagers aspirin. It may cause Reye%26#039;s syndrome, a rare but potentially fatal disease.

Do not use petroleum jelly, butter or other home remedies on your sunburn. They can prevent or delay healing.

If your sunburn begins to blister or if you experience immediate complications, such as rash, itching or fever, see your doctor.

    Hope this helps.
    Get well soon.

  • take a towel get it wet with cold water. ring the extra water out then put that on your sun burn. it helps pull the heat out of your skin and heals it faster. it feels great. once the towel is warm take it off. 0% 0 Votes
