Vicodin causing nausea? I was recently in an accident and was prescribed vicodin. It works well, but it ALWAYS causes nausea and sometimes vomiting. I%26#039;ve tried taking it with food, which decreases its effectiveness, and still feel sick. Can someone please give me some advice?

This is not uncommon if you have never taken narcotic pain killers before. Hydrocodone can cause nausea, even after taking it with food. Lying down usually helps with the nausea and dizziness. As someone else suggested, try cutting your dosage in half, if you find that it will control your pain. If you still experience nausea after a lying down, reducing your dosage, especially after several days, consult your doctor for a change in meds. 100% 1 Vote

  • Vicodin is a mix of the narcotic analgesic hydracodone, and the NSAID drug acetaminophen (Tylenol). As with all narcotics, a common side effect is nausea. I recommend you call the doctor who prescribed you the vicodin for advice. It is possible they will prescribe you an antiemetic (anti-nausea drug) such as phenogren to help you. • Stop taking it. If you are vomiting from the vicodin there is a high probability that you are allergic to this medication. Call the doctor who prescribed it for you and let him/her know about your reaction and have them change the prescription for you. Hope you feel better soon! Personal experience 0% 0 Votes
  • cut your dose in half and eat before taking it, like 20 mins before. I had to take vicodin after rolling my car. eat fresh fruit and not greasy stuff. drink a lot of water. dont overlap your doses. 0% 0 Votes
