How do you care for a sunburn that blisters on a child?

How do you care for a sunburn that blisters on a child? The child is not mine. I am watching him. He came today with a blister on his shoulder bigger than a quarter. It has popped it looks like. Do I bandage it to keep it from infection, or will it heal better if it is open? Is there anything that I can put on it? He is 3 years old.
