I've had my ear cartilage pierced for 7 years and got infected...?

I%26#039;ve had my ear cartilage pierced for 7 years and got infected...? I had to take the piercing out and I%26#039;ve left it out for 3-4 days. I clean it 3-4 times daily and I stick the earing back through. Will it heal up and I have to get it repierced? For the first 2-3 years if I took it out longer than 1 day it would start to heal, but now it%26#039;s not doing that. I was just wondering if I could leave it out longer now? The infection is almost gone and I cleaned the earing itself (the only one I can wear since it is real gold, I hate gold, but I%26#039;m allergic to anything but gold) in peroxide and I clean it with the ear antiseptic before I put it in my ear. You think I%26#039;ll be okay leaving it out for about a week while my ear heals completely?

cartilage piercings (when done correctly) will not heal/close after 1 yr according to the lady who has done all 4 of mine

sounds like it might have been pierced at an angle
I had one done (not by the same lady) and it didn%26#039;t heal %26amp; became infected...found out it was not pierced correctly and was done at an angle instead of straight through. I had to wait 1 yr, then went and had it re-done

Thanks everybody. It%26#039;s fine it has not healed up and the infection is gone. I slept on it wrong and caused it to cut my ear. I didn%26#039;t know and the earing had not been cleaned in a while, but it%26#039;s back to normal now. Thanks for the advice.

• I recently, out of curiosity, tried to put an earring in my cartilage piercing that I took out about a year ago. The earring went in perfectly. I would leave it out for a little bit longer. You definitely want that to heal up. ;)
• i had this problem with a piercing for 8 years. i finally let it close because it was so picky and had this panging pain at night when i slept on it. im glad i let it heal. i like my belly piercing 1000x more.
