How do you know if you have a keloid? I got my belly button pieced about 4 days ago. I%26#039;ve been washing it like my piercer said. He said to spray saline salution on it 3 times a day and rotate the ring so the salution can get in the wound. Then he said not to mess with it and rotate it. Although i have been cleaning like directed, I%26#039;m scared that it%26#039;s developed a Keloid. It%26#039;s not bad, I don%26#039;t think. At the top it%26#039;s a little pink and bruised, Even maybe a little swolen. The thing is that it itches. And he said something about keliods getting puffy and itching and warm to touch........

Can someone please help me out?
By the way i%26#039;m 14.
Thanks =/

Keloids are hard masses of scar tissue which can be warm and I am pretty sure you%26#039;d know if you had one. Swollen, puffy, and mild bruising are to be expected when you take a chunk out of your skin. If you were pierced four days ago all of this is normal. If this is still the case in a few weeks then yes, you should be worried. Healing skin does itch. You are perfectly fine and if you don%26#039;t believe me call the shop and ask someone working there. I%26#039;m a piercing freak.. I have and have had a lot done. 100% 1 Vote

  • keloids dont develop that fast, they take a while. a keloid is thick and higher than your skin, it is sore, sometimes itchy, and very red. it is too soon to say for you, your body is just trying to heal the hole and is a little swollen and itchy because of it. use vitamin e on it once its healed to prevent scarring. when we heal it itches so that isnt bad. i have a huge keloid on my chest, it didnt appear for months after my injury. massage the area when healed too, that will help. 0% 0 Votes
