  • The swelling means she either has an injury or an infection, either way she should go to a health care professional to get it treated. If that is simply not possible then at most pharmacies you can get a sterile eye wash solution. Open the eye as much as possible and flush the eye well and then put a hot compress or a hot towel. After the compress has cooled, cover with a sterile gauze and repeat every 2-3 hours. By hot I mean as hot as a normal person can stand comfortably on their eye. You don%26#039;t want to add a burn injury on top of what other problems she already has. If after 4-8 hours of treatment the symptoms are the same or worse, then go to a health care professional and get proper treatment. You don%26#039;t want to wait too long, the increased pressure can cause temporary or permanent blindness. If the cause is allergy related, an antihistamine like benadryl can help. If she was injured physically, or she has a foreign object like an eyelash, or other kind of particle in her eye then an anti-inflammatory like Advil/Motrin or Aleve could help reduce some of the inflammation. Tylenol can relieve pain, but wont help the inflammation. It is not recommended to mix medications, but if she won%26#039;t see a doctor, a pharmacist can advise as to specific over the counter products for treating the eye.

  • initial stage of pink eye is burning, tearing, swelling, and crusting on the eyes. If she pulls down the lower eyelid is it red, is the white of her eye red? If so, then she probably has pink eye...you won%26#039;t be able to cure it on your own, she needs to see a doctor and get antibiotic eye drops, she%26#039;ll feel better in 24 hours after starting the drops. Make sure she washes her hands good and a lot to keep it from spreading to the other eye and to other people because it is very contagious. Also be careful of using the same facetowel every day and from one eye to the other as well 0% 0 Votes
  • Does it get crusty? Because then it%26#039;s probably pink eye. But I don%26#039;t know if pink eye burns. Just call the doctor and ask. 0% 0 Votes
