My son%26#039;s finger is swollen and red!? I don%26#039;t know what s wrong and I don%26#039;t see any bite marks. He acts like it doesn%26#039;t hurt him when I squeeze it. Its just really swollen and red. It started off small yesterday and now its alot more swollen. He%26#039;s a one year old. Its the bottom part of his finger like right below his nuckle. It looks like the red part is kind of going to the hand but not much though. I want to try to wait it out but I know its not a spider bite or anything. My mother is a RN and she said that his immune system hasn%26#039;t built up against ants and mosquitos so it could be one of those kind of bites. ANyone have any idea on what it could be. Its not warm and there is no puss or head on it.

I don%26#039;t have any idea what it is, sorry.
I%26#039;d suggest icing it and seeing if the swelling goes down. If it doesn%26#039;t go down or if it continues to swell, or if he starts acting like it hurts, I%26#039;d take him to the doctor. 100% 1 Vote

  • at 1 yrs old they sould have an immune system strong enough to fight off a misquito bite (an RN as well...) yes its true its not like the strongest but its not so weak where it cant fight off a misquito bite, he may just have reacted different to it because he is younger. Dont know where you live, but misquitos here in March are never seen!! So, unsure of your situation there.
I would just say to keep an eye on it...of course, i cant make that call for you. its your decision. You could possibly call his pediatrition. they will usually take calls like this.
Doesnt sound too serious but i understand the concern ;-) 0% 0 Votes
