What to do for a Hangnail infection?

What to do for a Hangnail infection? I had a hangnail 2 days ago and now an infection. The skin around the bad side is red/whitish, swollen, warm and sore. This morning I cut a little skin from around it and some pus came out of the side. I tried antibiotic ointment not looking or feeling much better, any ideas on home treatment. Do not wanna go to Dr for this and miss work if at ALL possible tomorrow.

I had that too some years ago. Really scared me. I kept it doused in hydrogen peroxide, when I could. In the meantime, I put band aids on in such a way that the band aid pulled the skin away from the nail. Had to do this for a few weeks, until the nail could grow out enough as to grow past the skin it would have grown in to. Good luck. 100% 1 Vote

• I had a hangnail also. I tried many things. I did what you did. I put it in salt water. Don%26#039;t ask me why I just read something about that. The only way to get rid of it is by going to the Podiatrist. He will get it done for you and you will only have to miss 1 hour of work. 0% 0 Votes
