Ear infection? (Piercing)? I recently got my ears pierced back in the end of September, and everything was fine until i put in a sort of metal...and now only my LEFT ear has, well, stuff, coming out of it, and is red and swollen. My right ear is fine, but when I move around my left one, it hurts a bit...I tried cleaning it last night, but when I woke up this morning, it was the same. Any advice???

Sounds infected. The body does not like foreign objects at all. Only a Dr will be able to get you on an antibiotic. See a dermatologist if you can. They are really good about correcting cosmetic issues such as yours. G%26#039;luck.

  • Check better with a Doctor cause he may give the right advice and medicine for infections, as well a painkiller. Ask even for your own good if is necessary to have the tetanus vaccine in order to give more tools against any infections (metal related) for your body.

Sometimes the home remedies are good for the moment but ONLY a Doctor will give you something for real.

    good luck and take care.
  • Just use alcohol twice a day and after showering. When you start to wear earrings, wear only the ones made of surgical steel posts or ones for sensitive ears. ALWAYS CLEAN THE POSTS WITH ALCOHOL BEFORE WEARING THEM. ESPECIALLY NEW ONES. The cheapie earrings will cause trouble if you are unable to wear them. As for the ear lobe infection, before you put an earring in make sure you have some Neosporin or some other type of anti-biotic cream on the post and this will help get rid of the infection. 4 lobe, 2 cartilage piercings + I gauged my lobes.
  • I think you should take off the earring at your Lt ear. You%26#039;re better put on antibotic cream on it until no more swollen and reddish at the ear. After that you could put the earring back on again. If it%26#039;s getting worse, you should go to the doctor. polysporin cream or onguent.
  • Well, to start, if the piercing was done with a piercing gun, you more than likely have a disease, because those things are absolutely filthy.

From there, you need to switch back to the original jewelry and see if this alleviates the %26quot;infection%26quot; as it may be an allergic reaction paired with an infection.

Seeing as how you got your ears pierced so recently, they obviously have not healed, and your right ear might just be a bit further along than your left ear.

To properly clean both of your ears, you need to use an anti-MICROBIAL ointment, NOT an anti-bacterial. Anti-bacterial ointment used on piercings promote bacterial infections. In a week or so, this will take down the swelling, and reduce the puss to at worst, crusties.

If you did in fact get the piercings done with a piercing gun, then you are more than likely using studs with backings...backings cause infections. Go into a Spencer%26#039;s Gifts or a Hot Topic, and get some surgical steel captured ball or horseshoe earrings. Surgical steel is the best material to use for healing ears. You will want to get 18g or 20g if possible, because these are closest to stud sized, although I do suggest using 16g, but it will leave a bigger hole than normal at first, and it might hurt when you put them in.

As for future piercings, ALWAYS get them done by a professional (went to piercing school), NEVER get them done with a piercing gun (a professional will NEVER use a piercing gun), and NEVER use studs. Do some research, these are the first things that you will learn.
