The skin covering a blister regardless of it%26#039;s cause is natures best protective band-aid to prevent infection and insure optimal recovery. When the blister is popped the protective fluid leaks out, it contains lots of immune cells and is a natural lubricant and moisturizer speeding recovery. An open wound is very susceptible to bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. The absence of fluid usually causes more pain as well.Other Answers (5)

Burns of any kind are highly susceptible to infection. Your skin is your body%26#039;s main defense against infection and injury. When your skin is burned, that barrier is not there, leaving an open portal for bacteria and viruses to enter your system.
When a burn blisters, you should not pop the blisters yourself. Yes, they will eventually pop on their own...that%26#039;s fine. When (if) that happens, apply an antibacterial ointment to it and cover it with a sterile bandage.
You should also never peel skin away from a healing burn. This can cause tears in the new skin, which is extremely fragile and again, leave direct openings for bacteria.
At any time you have a burn of more than 10% (the degree of burn does not matter...the body surface area is more important) of body surface area, see a doctor. There are prescription medications available for burn treatment that are quite effective with infection control and with pain relief.
Also, if you get burned, remember that COLD WATER is the best initial treatment...cool your skin and stop the burning FIRST. NEVER apply any non-sterile household product to a burn. See a doctor.

its only bad to pop a blister cause its prone to infection. it sounds wierd, but i pop all my blisters and they seem to heal faster when i do. but you have to keep them clean and covered if you chose that route. they sting because of the open skin and you can get scars quicker that way.

If it opens or pops by accident, drain the liquid, put some bacitracin ointment on it and put a bandage on it! keep it clean!

after ablister pops the raw skin underneath is prone to infection.
