How do I get water out of my eardrum? I took a shower last night and I got some water inside my right ear.? It is like the feeling you have when you go swimming and then you have to hit one side of your head and wait till the ear drum pops and the water drains. I figured it would drain last night when I slept, but the right ear still hasn%26#039;t fully drained. WTF???? how can I get this to drain?

I would question using the alcohol...it dries the tissue and can cause excess wax formation. Try different positions to see if one drains it. It is possible that the water loosened wax already present and that is what your feeling. You can buy an ear syringe and follow the instructions for ear wax removal to see if it helps. RN

  • i have two solutions. first, try plugging your nose and tilting your head forward so you are almost looking at the ground below you and then tilt your head to get the water out. slowly...do this very slowly...that works for me usually.
if not, maybe secure sea salt in a light fabric like a handkercheif or cheesecloth, maybe a paper towel would work. hold it over your ear you want to drain and then lay on it so you are completely laying down. sometimes that helps too. other than that...maybe you%26#039;ll just have to wait?
good luck! :) i sincerely hate water in my ears!
  • try pulling lightly the ear up or down, but remember to have your head tilted.
thats what usually works for me!

    good luck!
  • I usually put some isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol in my ears when they get like that, works fairly well
  • if you have a heating pad use it on your ear heat usually let the water drain out
  • Oh thats easy I use a small drop of rubbing alcohol the plain jane stuff cheaper the better. good luck.
