this happened to me too.put some ice on it for a while.. just plain ice. and keep moving your thumb, to keep the circulation and joints moving.
then after a couple of days, if it still hurts go to the drug store and by a finger/thumb splint.
it should be healed in a bout a week.

pull on it until it pops like your popping your knuckles
then ice for 20 minutes then take the ice off for twenty minutes
and repeat the iceing until the swelling goes down -
ice packs if it is swollen
keep it elevated
massage it keep the circulation flowing through it -
Ice it. 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off.
