Codeine cough syrups sold over-the-counter? I recently heard that cough syrups containing codeine, as opposed to DXM, are sold over-the-counter in my state.

My question is, what other drugs are mixed with this syrup?

  • It is sold here in Arkansas also. The reason it is OTC is because it is 10mg per ml. The Rx strength is 30mg per ml. We learned about it in nursing school! I often pick some up when the doctor does not Rx my children cough syrup with their abx when they are sick. Not all the pharmacy%26#039;s carry it. They do not want to deal with the hassle of keeping a log and having people signing it out. The name it goes by here is Robitussin AC. 0% 0 Votes

  • In North Carolina, cough syrup with codeine and dextromethorphan are sold behind the pharmacy counter without a prescription. By law, you can get 1 bottle every 48 hours. 0% 0 Votes
